About Our Class
Welcome to Room 1 at Eagle Point Primary School! We are very lucky to have a lovely class of 17 Grade F/1 students.
We have a blast learning in Room 1, and enjoy having fun with our classmates.
Each morning we begin with our 2 hour Literacy block. Our block nurtures the development of skills our students need for successful reading and viewing, writing, speaking annd listening. We have incorporated all the components of The Big 6 being: oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
We begin with our Soundwaves lesson ( our systematic synthetic phonics program or "SSP") where we are learning about our letters and sounds. This forms the basis of reading and writing for our students and equips them with the skills and knowledge they need to decode words (read) and encode ( write) their own texts. This is a very enjoyable part of the morning as the children love using mini whiteboards to write their new sounds, words and even write a short sentence. The students also learn Jane Passey's cued articulaton to further assist with their sound awareness by providing a visual gesture to each of sounds.
Our Sound Wall
For our Reading and Writing compenent, we explore the texts of different authors and also different genres. We are learning to document our thinking about the books we read, and to then share our thoughts with others. We are learning strategies to help us read, and we are enjoying learning to write and creating our own little books to share.
In our Numeracy block we begin each day by viewing a fun number talk image. This helps us to develop our number sense, speaking and listening skills as well as "seeing" the thinking of our classmates. We are learning various math concepts such as numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, sharing, measurement and shape. Maths is very hands on, and each day you will find us learning by playing math games, using many different hands on materials such as pom poms, counters, teddys, hippos, buttons etc. We also love to explore math concepts out in the playground and often head out to find natural items to count, meaure, sort, and order.
Every Tuesday our class enjoys Performing Arts ( Miss Bradbury) and P.E, ( Mrs Simpson) and on Wednesday we love getting into the Art room with Ms. Buckwell.
Our afternoons are full of fun and enjoyable activities. Each day is very different! You will often find us enjoying experiences such as Arts and Craft, Yoga, Junior Sports, Nature Play and Indoor Games as we look forward to a slower pace after our busy mornings. Each Tuesday we are very fortunate to have Rosette come into our class and teach us all about AUSLAN in terms 3 and 4.
Emotional Literacy Art
Our early years at school are comprised of Reading, Writing, Oral Langauge, Spelling, Mathematics, Science, PE, Art and Respectful Relationships. Each of our students will have their learning program tailored to their individual needs, whilst still taking part in our inclusive educational setting.
We are in the Blue room with lots of rainbows and colours. We love singing and dancing, reading new books, going outside for brain breaks, using our "special" textas oh, and our classroom Pet, "Scooter" the blue Monster!

About Our Class
Welcome to Room 2 at Eagle Point Primary School. This year I am very privileged to have a beautiful class of 17 students who love to learn and have fun!
We start our mornings off with a Sound Waves session where we explore letters and sounds. Following this we have our reading and writing lessons where we can apply what we have learnt during Sound Waves. We are busy learning strategies and skills to help us in our reading and writing, while also exploring different types of texts and authors.
We believe learning should be fun and interesting and therefore take a hands-on approach to learning. In our math classes you will find us exploring new concepts using a range of manipulatives that students can move, touch, explore and visualise to help them build confidence as mathematicians, make strong connections, and deepen their mathematical understandings.
Throughout the week we enjoy specialist classes including P.E, Performing Arts and Art. In Room 2 we enjoy regular brain breaks throughout the day. We love craft, learning dances to silly songs, relaxing with yoga and playing classroom games.
The early years are an exciting time of growth as students become more independent and begin to learn to take responsibility for their learning. We celebrate the success, efforts and individuality of everyone in our class, striving to create an inclusive, supportive, safe environment.
Visitors are always welcome in Room 2 and we would love to see you!

About Our Class
In Room 4 we strive to create a nurturing and fun learning environment, where we celebrate each other as learners. We have a beautiful little class of 21 One/Two students,
We understand that each of our students brings with them to school their very own interests, abilities, needs and experiences and so we endeavour to create a learning program for our students that encompasses their learning needs as well as catering to their individual interests. All students work with their own learning goals that change with their needs and accomplishments.
In room 4 we have a strong focus on building our classroom community, and this extends further into the school family of Eagle Point Primary School. Our students enjoy many fun and engaging activities with Room 8 such as Junior Sports. Our students enjoy spending time in our beautiful little class library, listening to our class novels and picture books being read, singing and dancing, and having fun with our friends.
LITERACY
We keep busy during our morning Literacy block with our reading, writing, and Sound Waves where our students continue to build on the foundations of phonics. We study authors and apply what we have learned about the craft of writing and illustrating to our own stories, understanding the author's purpose and the main message in the texts we explore. We enjoy sharing books with each other and building up our classroom library to include different genres and interests.
NUMERACY
In our Numeracy block, our students explore the world around them through a mathematical lens. Our students enjoy our Number Talks where they are challenged to build upon their number sense, problem solving skills as well as developing a range of calculation strategies. Maths is a big favourite in room 4. We do lots of hands on activities both in and out of the classroom that are challenging, enjoyable and foster a love for maths.
Our students also enjoy taking part in Science and Social Skills, as well as visiting incursions (such as local authors, artists, environmental scientists etc). Our school is very lucky to have an amazing Specialist Program that our students enjoy each week- Physical Education, Art and Performing Art add further enrichment to each child’s learning and the children love these special classes. Our students also enjoy learning Auslan with our LOTE Teacher, Rosette.
We love visitors to our grade, we are the YELLOW room!
